I never missed Thanksgiving dinner with my family until I moved far enough away that it wasn’t always possible to fly home to celebrate with them. Fortunately, I have good friends who let me join their holiday festivities.
It has also given me an opportunity to celebrate Thanksgiving a bit differently. We eat Thanksgiving dinner at Noon back home. They eat at 4:00 p.m. We never watch football before or afterwards. Everyone else apparently does. Neither is better—just different.
With that in mind, I decided to include an appetizer recipe for those in need of some munchies while they watch the big game. And I promise—I’m totally cheering for your team.
I made this recipe for my parent’s 40th wedding anniversary, which could be considered its own celebration of Thanksgiving. It’s easy and convenient. You can make these ahead of time and freeze them until you need them.
