Woo-Hoo! Summer is here. Okay, maybe not officially, but the summer movie season kicks-off this weekend, so that’s good enough for me. Summer remains special, even though it’s been more years than I care to admit since I’ve been in school. I may no longer get three months of summer vacation, but there is still that sizzle in the air and so much to do.
I’ve compiled a list of the five things I’m excited for this summer.
Dead Reckoning by Charlaine Harris. The new Sookie Stackhouse book comes out tomorrow. And you can bet I’ll be in line to get my copy. I came late to the party, but I love Sookie, Eric and Pam and cannot wait to see what they’re up to in this book.
Thor. The first summer blockbuster (no offense Fast Five – I’m sure you’re great) hits movie screens on Saturday. I’m honestly not very familiar with Thor, but I find this keeps me from being offended when they make changes to iconic superheroes.
The Farmer’s Market. Okay, it’s open year-round in California, but it’s the best in the summer (imho). You can find big, juicy strawberries, plump heirloom tomatoes, succulent peaches and nectarines and tons of fresh herbs. I trot over to the Farmer’s Market every week and delicately nibble all weekend on my treasure trove of goodies. Okay, I confess! I gorge myself until I have a tummy ache. So what! It’s fruit; it’s good for you.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Pt 2. I’m a huge, huge Harry Potter fan. I somewhat reluctantly went to see Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets with a friend. And I fell promptly in love. I’ve read all the books (strangely enough I ended up being more of a diehard fan than my friend) and seen all the movies. This is the final movie. I’m excited and incredibly sad at the same time.
A New Feature to Eat Laugh Purr. It’s still a work in progress, but I’m thrilled how it’s coming along. Tentatively I’m looking at a mid-July launch, and I’ll be sharing more tidbits in the upcoming weeks.
So that’s all folks. Well, not really. I’m excited about season finales and new summer shows. And other movies and books too. I’m sort of excited about my birthday. I’m too old to blow out candles but enjoy getting together with my friends to celebrate. I’ve got oodles of recipes bookmarked to try and share this summer too.
I’ll be plenty busy this summer and hope you’re busy making plans to enjoy yours as well.
