I have been on huge apple kick lately. Something about Fall just makes me crave apples, and I don’t mind indulging those cravings. Apples are healthy—right? I suppose it depends on what you do with them. 😀
This apple butter is made in a slow cooker, which made my apple-loving heart do a little jig. Slow cooker recipes are created for lazy people like me. I can spend a few minutes chopping apples and mixing them with a few spices, followed by eight hours of ignoring them. What I couldn’t ignore was the fabulous aroma permeating throughout my home.
The only thing I would change is not blending the apple mixture with all the juices. Mine is a little runnier than I’d prefer, although still really yummy! But I adore the color. The cinnamon hearts transform the apple butter into a beautiful ruby red color rather than the less attractive (although still tasty) brown.
This is the perfect recipe to use up some of those Fall apples and tastes so good on toast. (as if I needed an excuse to eat more bread, sigh) Your family and friends will thank you for taking a few minutes to make it.
