I’m back. I’m not 100% recovered from my bout of bronchitis, but I’m feeling pretty good. And I’m excited to introduce a new feature on Eat Laugh Purr—restaurant reviews. I love eating out, and it only seemed natural that I started reviewing some of my favorite places to eat.
First up is Los Compadres. I love, love, love Mexican food. And one thing SoCal does right (besides beautiful, glorious weather) is Mexican food. This Mexican restaurant is located fairly close to my old office, and I happened to stumble upon a review for it when it first opened. So I headed on over and fell in love.
The menu is extensive, although I seem to order the same dishes over and over again. I can’t help myself! I love what I love! And I love their pork carnitas. They are moist and salty and were the inspiration for my own version. You cannot go wrong with their enchiladas or tacos either, and I adore their chile rellenos—spicy but not overwhelmingly hot, and oozing with cheese. Margaritas are sweet and fruity—just the way I like them!
Pros:
- Extensive Menu
- Consistent high quality food and service
- Homemade flour tortillas are to die for!
- I recommend the strawberry margaritas, guacamole, pork carnitas and chile rellenos.
Cons:
- Prime dining hours can be busy, so be prepared to wait. It’s worth it though.
- Have to wear a stupid sombrero when it’s your b-day and your friends tell the waitress. 😀
I’ve gotten many of my friends and former co-workers addicted to this place, and when I get a hankering for great Mexican food—I go to Los Compadres.
