I was going to title this post, Venice Beach and Getting Baked, but some people may get the wrong connotation from that title. 🙂 My brother is in town for a training, so we spent Sunday afternoon at Venice Beach enjoying the weather and the fabulous people watching.
I’ve never run into a celebrity there, but it’s one place where they honestly wouldn’t stand out. The true celebrity of Venice Beach is all the crazy characters that sell their goods there or strut back and forth on the boardwalk. Some of these characters charge (or gently request) you pay them for talking their picture, so I just took pictures of the ocean.
Pretty, ain’t it?
Of course, I forgot to put on sunscreen, hence how I got boiled, baked and burned. And again, no—not that kind of baked! It was a beautiful day, but I’m paying the price today. My brother even purchased sunscreen (something about his bald spot, HA!) but I foolishly forgot to put some on.
Oh, the pain. The pain. Parts of me look like a boiled lobster, but I keep slathering on lotion in hopes that it will fade into a nice tan. We’ll see.
We ate lunch in Chinatown at one of my favorite restaurants, Yang Chow and enjoyed a big platter of slippery shrimp (terrible name but delicious dish!). I also made some super simple cinnamon rolls that are the bomb! I’ll be sharing those with you on Thursday, so be sure to come back for the recipe.
Hopefully, by then, I will no longer be baked. Again, stop it! The only drug I’m addicted to is Diet Coke. Geez Louise.
