I‘m taking a few days off for a well-deserved vacation. Well, it’s really more of a staycation but that’s fine by me. I’m always boo-hooing all over the place when I have to leave Mighty Max behind, just ask my parents. It’s not that they wouldn’t welcome him. They would—for about five minutes. But after Max sharpened his claws on my Dad’s chair and knocked over as many of my Mom’s knick-knacks as possible, we’d be banished to the barn pretty quickly. So yeah. Max gets kenneled when I go on vacation. 🙂
But not this time. We are just going to chill out and recharge our batteries. Well, I am. Max is pretty well-rested from his multiple naps. I’ve always been a huge proponent of using all your allotted vacation time. Some people really struggle to do that but not me. Mind you, I carefully plotted my vacations so it wouldn’t inconvenience anyone, but I did not let even one precious vacation day go unused. And I was a better employee for doing so.
Now that I am my own boss, it’s harder. I no longer have set vacation days and I struggle sometimes to shut off work. I started noticing in July that I was getting a bit grumpy and losing some enthusiasm for the things that normally brought a big smile to my face. And finally, I realized that I just needed a break. A real break.
One where I turned off the computer for a few days. One where I didn’t obsess about all the things I need to accomplish, but did things just for me. A walk on the beach. Read. Journal. Snuggle with Max. Cook something delicious. Laugh. I need to disconnect from my work, so I find my passion and enthusiasm again. To no longer feel burnt out. And worse—uninterested.
So I’m off to my pack my bags, not really, and start my vacation. And chill, baby.
I love this post Tanya! I hope you have a wonderful, relaxing vacation and come back energized nd re-charged. Enjoy! I can relate.
Thanks, Sunny! It felt so good to take a few days off; I wish I could take a few more! We all need time to recharge and I do feel reenergized. Max does too. 🙂
Good for you, Tanya, for taking some time to rejuvenate. You two have fun together. 🙂
Thanks, Laurie! Max and I had a great time, kicking back and watching some movies, reading, and playing! Max LOVES to play. 🙂
