A Family Vacation

September 8, 2014 by Tanya

beach vacation

Sorry that I’ve been MIA the past week and a half, but my parents were visiting. So first, I needed some time to clean, then it was time to have fun with Mom and Dad. This was the first time they actually meet Max, their grand-kitty (this is where they roll their eyes and look mildly uncomfortable). They have heard me go on and on and on about him over the phone and whine continually about how much I miss him when I visit them, so it’s not like they don’t know him. Still, hearing about him is different than actually meeting him.

When I chased Max out of the bedroom to introduce them to one another, they were surprised by how BIG Mighty Max was. Listen people, I’m not kidding when I say he is 17 pounds of pep! MaxE is a big cat. He was surprisingly skittish around them since he normally acts so confident. He wanted their attention but on his terms. So in other words, he was a typical feline.

Beyond Max possibly poking a hole in their air mattress (which he feels really, really bad about it, NOT!), we had a great time overall. We walked everywhere so I got lots of exercise, which was good because I also ate a lot, which was bad. I made my yummy peaches and cream bars and tested some new recipes on my parents, which you should see eventually on Eat Laugh Purr.

You may recall a few months ago when I scrapped the side of my car on a cement pillar in my parking garage (for the 3rd time!). Well, my Dad took a closer look at it and thought the scratch could be buffed out or at least partially. And he was right! Thanks Dad!

He also found two nails in my left-side tires. Boo! But when we took them to Good Year, they removed the nails and the tires didn’t deflate. Woo-hoo!

I took my Mom shopping and she got a couple cute pieces. We pay taxes on clothes in California, which they don’t in Minnesota. Our small town doesn’t have a lot of clothing stores, so a little tax was worth getting to shop at new stores. And I also had a coupon for my Mom to use, which helped sweeten the deal. We had fun and thankfully left my Dad at home to hangout with Max. He would have been bored. 🙂

It was a great vacation and I’m glad my parents were able to visit. I spent very little time online and zero time on social media, except Pinterest. Nothing stops me from pinning cute cat pictures! 😀 Anyway, it was fantastic to be offline, but I also feel a bit out of touch. Now I’m caught up on work and sleep, so I want to know what’s new with you!
