Sorry that I’ve been MIA the past week and a half, but my parents were visiting. So first, I needed some time to clean, then it was time to have fun with Mom and Dad. This was the first time they actually meet Max, their grand-kitty (this is where they roll their eyes and look mildly uncomfortable). They have heard me go on and on and on about him over the phone and whine continually about how much I miss him when I visit them, so it’s not like they don’t know him. Still, hearing about him is different than actually meeting him.
When I chased Max out of the bedroom to introduce them to one another, they were surprised by how BIG Mighty Max was. Listen people, I’m not kidding when I say he is 17 pounds of pep! MaxE is a big cat. He was surprisingly skittish around them since he normally acts so confident. He wanted their attention but on his terms. So in other words, he was a typical feline.
Beyond Max possibly poking a hole in their air mattress (which he feels really, really bad about it, NOT!), we had a great time overall. We walked everywhere so I got lots of exercise, which was good because I also ate a lot, which was bad. I made my yummy peaches and cream bars and tested some new recipes on my parents, which you should see eventually on Eat Laugh Purr.
You may recall a few months ago when I scrapped the side of my car on a cement pillar in my parking garage (for the 3rd time!). Well, my Dad took a closer look at it and thought the scratch could be buffed out or at least partially. And he was right! Thanks Dad!
He also found two nails in my left-side tires. Boo! But when we took them to Good Year, they removed the nails and the tires didn’t deflate. Woo-hoo!
I took my Mom shopping and she got a couple cute pieces. We pay taxes on clothes in California, which they don’t in Minnesota. Our small town doesn’t have a lot of clothing stores, so a little tax was worth getting to shop at new stores. And I also had a coupon for my Mom to use, which helped sweeten the deal. We had fun and thankfully left my Dad at home to hangout with Max. He would have been bored. 🙂
It was a great vacation and I’m glad my parents were able to visit. I spent very little time online and zero time on social media, except Pinterest. Nothing stops me from pinning cute cat pictures! 😀 Anyway, it was fantastic to be offline, but I also feel a bit out of touch. Now I’m caught up on work and sleep, so I want to know what’s new with you!

Hey Tanya!
Sounds like you had a great time with your parents. Man, I would love not to pay taxes! That was sweet of you to take her shopping! I bet your dad would be like mine…making faces and sighing to show that he’s bored…he was better off hanging out with Max. Dad’s are the best aren’t they?
Max was the little entertainer too!
Everything is great over here. A little busy too. I was offline since last Friday and playing catch up. I have 2400 email to sift through! It was my birthday so we took off to visit my son and had a mini road trip and ended up in Austin.
Now it’s time to get back to work and my diet. I ate a lot too ;).
Happy Monday!
Happy Belated Birthday, Corina!! It sounds like you had a great birthday and you are supposed to eat well on your b-day. I’m sure it’s rule somewhere! LOL! I have never been to Austin but have heard so many wonderful thing about it. I hear you on playing catch-up. The inbox can overflow so quickly. 🙂 Sometimes when I go clothes shopping I still get confused when the clerk tells me the price because I always forget about the taxes. 🙁 My dad did end up going to one store with us and I could tell he was trying to find his happy place! Have a great week!
Yay! Glad you’re back. I was just about to email you to see if you were okay. 🙂 Sounds like a wonderfully fun time. It’s starting to get chilly here, so I’m glad your parents got to enjoy some warm weather before our fun and exciting winter kicks in, LOL. 🙂
I did wonder if anyone would notice that I wasn’t around. I would never want to scare anyone but it does make me feel good to know being noticed and care. 🙂 My parents said it was supposed to be in the 50’s one day this week. Yikes! It’s been hot here and I’m ready for winter … California style! Hope all is going well with you!
I was wondering what was going on in your neck of the woods! Glad you had a good time with the parents, and that’s funny that he poked a hole in their air mattress 🙂
Thanks, Mackenzie! It’s probably our fault. We played with him and let him pounce (you know his super power) all over it, chasing after his toys. I trimmed his nails before they came but I must not have trimmed them enough. Oops.
