This weekend I finally accomplished an item off my to-do list that has been on there for months. I am a visual person by nature and more apt to click on picture than just a link. But I never got around to rebuilding my visual recipe index until now. One excuse after another, you know how it goes. Right? Please don’t let me be the only procrastinator.
There actually was a visual recipe index on Eat Laugh Purr before the redesign, but it was manually coded and updated, which was a pain. Okay, okay, you got me. I tended to forget to update the index. Oops.
Previously, I couldn’t figure out how to make it automatic, but I was determined to find a way. It took a little playing around, but I did it and think it looks great. I am also very biased. Let me know what you think of the new visual recipe index. You may see some new-to-you but old-to-the-blog recipes. Apparently, a few recipes never made it to the index. Double oops.
My Favorite Recipes on Eat Laugh Purr
To celebrate, I’m going to highlight a favorite recipe from each category.
Best Appetizer: Spicy Spinach Artichoke Dip
I’m a huge fan of artichoke dip and this one is a real keeper. It’s not super hot, but it has a nice little kick. And that fact that it includes spinach means it must be healthy. Right? Right? Yeah, that’s what I thought.
Best Beverage: Caramel Apple Cider
Apple cider is one of my all-time favorite beverages. It’s so crisp and delicious. The fact that it tends to be a seasonal drink also makes it extra special. I love it plain, but when you add yummy, rich caramel, it truly becomes a divine beverage.
Best Bread: Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins
This is a tough one for me because you know how I love carbs. These are unbelievably good and everyone loves this recipe.
Best Breakfast: Buttermilk Pancakes
This picture is bad. I admit it. It’s from when I first started blogging. By no means am I a crackerjack photographer but I can do better this. Next time I make these bad boys, I’ll snap a few new pictures. This is the recipe that I make often, and my family loves it too.
Best Dessert: Chocolate Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Filling
This was another tough category because you really can’t go wrong with any of the desserts. But these were the first recipe I posted and a childhood favorite. They are incredibly easy and unbelievably delicious. I have brought these to multiple potlucks and never have any leftovers.
Best Sides: Deluxe Mashed Potatoes
This was a no-brainer. As much as I enjoy all the other recipes in this category, my love of mashed potatoes is deep and pure. These bad boys are creamy and decadent and make me smile every time I make them.
Best Soup/Salad: French Onion Soup
French onion soup has always been on my favorite soups. With its rich, savory broth, crisp crouton and melted cheese, it’s a combination that cannot be beat. It has been awhile since I enjoyed a cup of this and as soon as it turns cold (like January), it’s on the menu!
More Good Things To Come
I’m working on some yummy Fall recipes and hopefully they will be blog-worthy! Plus, I’m making my list of dishes and treats I want to make for the upcoming holidays. So many good recipes, such little spare room in my pants. Woe is the life of a food blogger! 🙂
Have a great weekend! Do you have anything fun planned?
Tanya
All of your faves, look so good! Especially the caramel apple cider and the spinach artichoke dip! I love spinach artichoke dip and once when I was pregnant, I had a mad craving for it, for like 3 days straight. Then, the craving went away, and every time I even *heard* the words “spinach artichoke dip”, I became nauseous, lol 🙂 Baby did not like it 🙂 But I love that stuff! And I can eat quite a bit of it 😉
Caramel apple cider is one of my all-time favorite beverages and I haven’t had it yet! I have to fix that pronto! 🙂 That’s hilarious that your daughter does not share your love of spinach artichoke dip and made you nauseous. I love that stuff and I can eat more than I should too. That stuff is dangerous!
Mmmm, that dip and cupcakes look so darn delicious!! I am curious, might you have favorite meal recipes that freeze well? I’d like to plan this before Flash arrives since I tend to be the only cook, and since you’re so AMAZING at it, I thought I’d ask an expert. 🙂
Oh, great question, Anna! My crockpot spaghetti sauce and spaghetti with roasted garlic meatballs freeze well. My homemade pizza dough also freezes great. I love having some in the freezer. Easy to defrost and let rise again, then top as you please! The sweet potato chickpea veggie burgers also freeze and reheat great too. I need to work on some more freezer-friendly recipes, because they are life savers on busy days! And I was watching Flash earlier tonight and it always makes me think about you and your Flash! 🙂
Hi Tanya!
Doesn’t it feel awesome to get things checked off a to-do list? No one here understands my joy when I do LOL.
I was just at your recipes tab and I love it! The visuals made me hungry!! And the picture of the ocean, do you live close to there? I would love to live by water.
Thanks for sharing your favorite recipes with us. The buttermilk pancakes…oh my gosh!!
Hope you’re having a great week there hun! Say hey to Max!
Yes, it does feel great! I’m glad you love the visual index; I do too! I do live pretty close to water, just a few minutes drive away. And I should get to the beach more frequently since it’s so close! The buttermilk pancakes – to die for, seriously! 🙂 You have a great week too, Corina!
