Baby, I’m back. 🙂 There were days I was tempted to edit my post and push back my return date, but … I didn’t. Too risky. Do it once and it becomes too easy to do it again. And again. There were moments where I wondered if my return would be a farewell post, but I’m not ready to give-up on blogging.
People start blogs for lots of different reasons, but most initially focus on themselves. Not out of vanity or narcissism (although in some cases it is), but because we’re either sharing a passion or trying to better some aspect of ourselves. So it’s me, me, me.
The bloggers with longevity and success recognize fairly quickly that it’s actually not about themselves, but about their readers. How to help them through sharing our stories, our trials and triumphs. To forge a connection and build friendships, even if we never meet face-to-face.
I found myself saying, “Oh, I can’t wait to share that on the blog.” again and again and knew it wasn’t time to retire Eat Laugh Purr yet. There are still things left to be said and shared.
A Couple of Tweaks
I did spent quite a bit of time thinking about how I wanted to grow Eat Laugh Purr and what I wanted it’s ongoing purpose to be. Here’s what you can expect:
- I’m going to reduce to two posts per week, Mondays and Thursdays. Mondays will be my personal post with MaxE posting on the 3rd Monday of the Month. Thursdays will be a food post.
- I’m expanding my posts to feature some fun DIY health and beauty remedies. I’ve recently acquired a passion around making some homemade beauty products, like facial masks, hair masks and lotions, etc. They are cost-effective and natural. I will continue to talk about my weight loss journey (errrr… really need to get on that) and other motivational posts.
While I have enough material to post three days a week, I simply lack the time and want blogging to remain a fun, creative outlet for me. It had become a bit of chore on all fronts and eliminating one post per week simplifies my life. I’m looking forward to expanding the types of posts I feature and hope you enjoy them too!
Simple Pleasures Every Day
That has been the tagline of Eat Laugh Purr and it’s something that I haven’t been very good at doing myself lately. It’s going back on the to-do list, folks.
What is Simple Pleasures?
It’s not about being minimalist, nor cheap or even frugal. It’s recognizing the pleasure of everyday, ordinary moments, like reading a favorite book with MaxE snuggled up next to me. Or walking to the store in shorts in February. Or savoring your favorite meal. All things we take for granted or may even find boring because many of us, myself included, think everything must be over-the-top, ah-MAZ-ing in our social media, selfie-driven, Kardashian-living world. And that’s a big ‘ol lie.
I’ll talk more about this in a future post, but I have/had lost a bit of my gratitude mojo and this is my way of helping me find it again.
So … what have you been up to these past 3 weeks? MaxE hopes you been getting into mischief, like he does every dang day. I can’t wait to get caught up and appreciate you giving me the space and time to find my blogging love again.
