I feel like that I haven’t been around much this year. Looking back, I really haven’t. 🙂 Some planned, some unplanned but what are you going to do? I’m riding the roller coaster of life, which is a bit scary because I HATE roller coasters. I’m learning to love … like … accept … grit my teeth and bear it. Anyway, I decided today would be a great time to get caught up with what’s new with me.
MaxE Keeps Me on My Toes
Ah, MaxE. I adore you but you drive me batty somedays. Max is normally not an aggressive morning cat, meaning he doesn’t get in my face and bellow when he wants me to get out of bed and feed him. He might give me a few meows but then settles down and goes back to sleep. Not this past Saturday. He was in my face 2 HOURS before we normally get up. I’m pretty sure this was his way to get revenge since we’re out of cat treats and I haven’t had a chance to pick up a new bag yet.
He did redeem himself later by being an excellent helper (or supervisor) when I was cleaning. Putting books away, he napped on the shelf. Vacuuming, he ran ahead of the big, scary and loud sucking machine but he didn’t hide. Cleaning the bathroom sink, he monitored from the counter. Sweeping, he sat at my feet and nervously watched as I swept up a few of his nibbles that had fallen out of his dish that he was saving for later. The good news was he was tuckered out by the cleaning so there was no early wake-up call Sunday morning.
Getting My Read On
My favorite way to decompress, besides snuggles with Mighty Max, is to read. I enjoy watching TV, but I find myself easily distracted while a good book completely whisks me away into their fictional world. I reread my old Stephanie Plum books. They started hilariously and became somewhat repetitive after book 12 but it was still nice, like visiting an old friend you haven’t seen in years.
I also read the latest JD Robb In Death book, which was really good. I love how you can check out books from your library via your Kindle. Speaking of Kindles, mine kicked it. I think it’s the battery from my Internet research. Extremely cranky about this because I love my Kindle. Thankfully, I can still access my books on Kindle via my iPad, although I still prefer reading books on my Kindle. Gratitude, Tanya! Are you reading any good books that I should try?
Cooking Up Some Yummy New Recipes
I’m always on the lookout for yummy and easy recipes to try. My must-try list is long and continually growing and I don’t mind one bit! I’m trying to map out the recipes I want to feature here, so I can plan accordingly. My biggest problem? I keep changing my mind on what to make. I see a recipe that I want to try, then another, and another one and on and on. There are so many days and only one me! I’m starting my Easter recipes this week with a truly glorious ham recipe. You don’t want to miss it!
Figuring Out My Goals
I know. It’s almost April and I don’t have defined goals yet. Bad Tanya! It’s not like they haven’t been on my mind because they most definitely have. I just don’t know what direction to go. I feel a bit like a hamster spinning my wheel. I want to get off the wheel and go somewhere. I’m just not sure where yet. And I’m really tired of saying that. You are probably tired of hearing me say it too.
I started reading a motivational book before the holidays and there was a sentence that really struck a chord with me. So deeply that I actually stopped reading to ponder this notion. I’m going to go back and finish the book and talk more about it with you on later post. I really need to buckle down and get focused here since I’ve already lost a quarter of the year, which is just crazy.
Life is Good
I’m working hard to maintain a grateful mindset. Lately, I’ve been more negative than positive, which is not normal for me and it’s a real buzzkill. It’s like I can feel my energy lowering, my chemistry changing and my heart growing heavy. The joy is being sucked right out of me and gratitude is the best way to reverse this. To appreciate how fortunate I am. Life is good and I am grateful.
What’s new with you?
Tanya
