Confession time: I was supposed to post Max’s annual Christmas story today. Somehow, something weird happened and I lost a good chunk of the story. Yesterday, my hosting service went down and I don’t know if that did something as I was working on it when it happened or if something else — gasp, user error — happened. Either way, I still need to do some work on MaxE’s Christmas Tall Tail, but it should be posted next Monday.
You may have also noticed that I haven’t posted any new recipes this month too. After all, it’s Christmas time, aka a food blogger’s nirvana. So what’s going on? Sigh. Maybe, someone, who wishes to remain anonymous, might have accidentally broke (but hopefully not permanently) her camera.
Fingers crossed, my Dad can straighten out the lens when I go home next week. The good news is that he has successfully fixed the same problem on my Mom’s camera, so I’m hoping his track record holds true. No pressure, Dad! Okay, a little pressure!
Sometimes when it rains, it pours, which, ironically, it did rain last night and was music to this girl’s ears. We desperately need rain here in California, and I have always loved the symbolic nature of rain. I’m ready for a fresh start and new year.
While I’m certainly not thrilled with some of the snafu’s I’ve experienced lately and won’t pretend that I didn’t throw myself an old-fashioned pity party, but I also know how good my life really is. It’s not perfect, but at the end of the day, it’s also pretty charmed. And that’s a pretty darn good Christmas present.

Sorry to hear about your camera 🙁 Hopefully your dad can fix it! I am curious, what kind of camera do you own? I want to eventually get one. (have to save up for it, of course!)
Thanks, Mackenzie! I’m hopeful he can too! My camera is a Canon Powershot S95. It’s around five years old, so they likely have newer models available, although I do believe this one is still on Amazon. It is a point and click camera but a higher-end model. I can shoot jpgs or RAW and it does have a macro lens too. Most bloggers use DSLRs, like the one Tonya from Budget and the Beach has. I bought my camera when I first started Eat Laugh Purr and wasn’t ready to make that investment. The body of a DSLR is probably comparable in price but depending the lenses you need/want, they can get very, very spendy, although vastly superior in quality. Let me know if you have any additional questions, happy to help!
Your positive attitude inspires me, Tanya!! Crossing my fingers that your dad will be able to get your camera lens all fixed up. Have an awesome day!
Me too, Laurie! My fingers are crossed too! I’m not gonna lie, I definitely spent some time stomping around my apartment like a 2-year-old. But I try my best to find my way back to gratitude and positive thinking!
Hi Tanya,
I’m sorry to read about your camera…I hope your dad can fix it! I’m glad you got some rain…I know it’s pretty bad out there.
I agree with what Laurie said. You always manage to keep a smile on your face and have a positive attitude…I love what you said about rain…it is symbolic isn’t it? 🙂
Happy Friday hun! Have a great weekend and Merry Christmas!
Cori
Hi Cori,
I’m hoping he can fix it too. He’s pretty handy that way, so I’m real hopeful! It rained again yesterday, which was fantastic. What was not so fantastic, is that I was out running errands, on foot, and caught in the rain without an umbrella. I was trying not to complain because we really, really need the rain. But I was soaking wet by the time I made it home, so I wasn’t so fond of the rain at that moment.
I try to keep a smile on but it’s not always easy. And sometimes, before that smile can appear, I do plenty of stomping around and grumbling to Max. The good thing about cats is they ignore whatever so they don’t like, so it doesn’t bother him.
You have a Merry Christmas too, Corina!
