I‘m still getting used to typing 2016, but I’m ready to jump into a new year. There was nothing wrong with 2015, but I’m also not sorry to see it in my rearview mirror either. However, before I embrace 2016, it’s only right that I give 2015 a proper send-off. To celebrate milestones and achievements and lament less successful endeavors too. Because, truth be told, even our failures are victories when viewed correctly. After all, we can only fail something because we tried, which is really one step closer to achievement versus doing nothing but wishing.
Celebrate Good Times!
A few proud moments for me in 2015 include the following:
Releasing My First E-Book: Authentic Living
While it highlights my design skills better than my ability to craft a story, Authentic Living still represents a significant achievement and dream of mine. It also gives me the courage to keep trying. I have several ideas, both fiction and non-fiction, percolating in my brain. I need to get fingers to keyboard and start outlining the stories.
Launching A Mindful Migration
Have you checked out my new blog, A Mindful Migration, yet? It’s just a baby, but I’m really proud of it and its potential. Becoming more mindful or intentional with my life has become increasingly important to me. We only have one life, and need to treat it with the respect it deserves.
I Turned 40!!
Honestly, I’m not sure if this is something to cheer or jeer. 😉 I am now officially over the hill with at least six white hairs and bones that occasionally creak and groan. At the same time, there are days where I feel 25. Even better, I got carded at the grocery store the other day. Age ain’t nothing but a number, right??????????????
A Couple of Stinkers
If everything went my way, I’d be bored. Or at least that’s what I tell myself when things go wrong and before I stick my head into a bag of potato chips.
Seriously. Everything. My TV. My Kindle. My headphones. My camera. Okay, everything is a bit of an exaggeration, but it’s still a lot of things I love. Thankfully, my Dad fixed my camera during Christmas vacation, and I’m reading and watching TV on my iPad. Most importantly, the Max Man didn’t break and neither did I, although some pouting my have occurred. But really, I’m good.
It struck multiple times this past year. I’m just glad when it did that I let myself take a break and find my passion again. And thank you for letting me take a few mini-breaks last year and sticking with me. It is much appreciated.
Eat Laugh Purr Achievements
Even with a few mini-breaks, we still had a great year.
We Got a Makeover!
And man! Whoever did the redesign did an amazing job! Oh wait. It was me. So vain. So very, very vain. 🙂 Jokes aside, I love the new look and hope you do too. And yes, if your website needs a makeover, I’m happy to help!
The Most Popular Posts …
Were all food-related. Apparently, y’all like to eat! Me too! My most popular post was (to my surprise) Oven Roasted Beef Brisket, which was closely followed by the Best Ham Ever. Both are great recipes, so definitely give them a try.
Max Ruled on …
Halloween. You apparently like to see Max dress up. He is not going to be happy with me when I tell him the good news. It was one of my favorite posts too, especially his not-so-happy pictures!
My Favorite Posts …
Two of my favorite recipes from the past year are very different from one another but both are delicious. The Strawberry Cream Pie is outrageously good and I can’t wait until strawberries are back in season, which will be in a few weeks. The Summer berries are the sweetest, but winter strawberries are still pretty darn good!
My other favorite recipe is Citrus Chicken with Quinoa. It’s delicious and good for you, which makes it a great recipe to kick-off 2016 right. And oranges and avocados are super cheap right now, so it’s on my menu for next week! Yum. Yum.
My favorite personal musing was A Life in Progress. It was true then and still true today. And I’m okay with a life in progress. I am also deeply in love with this Pumpkin Pie Spice Sugar Scrub. It smells yummy and makes my skin so soft.
Max’s Favorite Post …
Hi ya, everyone! It’s me, MaxE! Mama said we’re picking our favorite posts from last year, which is really hard. All of my posts are great. How can I pick just one? It’s impossible! But if I must (and Mama says I must), then my favorite post is More Mommyisms. While my favorite topic is moi, my second favorite subject is Mama. She is just so goofy, but I still love her and like meowing about her supreme silliness, also known as Mama Drama.
I am also real proud of my interview skills and maybe I ought to become a cat reporter. You’ll understand after reading, Meet the Blogger Behind A Mindful Migration. I ask Mama tough but fair questions. Also, maybe you can suggest to Mama that I should also blog there too. It’s kind of rude that I don’t have a bigger presence on her new blog. Just meowing.
Well, that’s a wrap-up of 2015. And here’s to a great 2016, full of opportunities, laughter and love, peace and goodwill to all and abundance. Next Monday, I’ll be talking about some changes coming to Eat Laugh Purr and my focus for 2016.
What were your best moments from 2015? Tell me in the comments!
