I’m back to posting twice a week, hopefully! I make no promises because my focus word this year is listen, so if I need a break, one will get taken. 🙂 But right now, no plans for any big breaks until my usual year-end vacation. In the meantime, I’ve been busy figuring out recipes for Thanksgiving and Christmas, which is also known as food blogger’s nirvana. So many good recipes, so little time!
But first, before I jump into recipes for the upcoming holiday season next week, I wanted to do a brief recap of October.
My Get Healthy Goals
I won’t lie and say it’s going great, but I am seeing change. Exercise still tends to be a challenge because I look for any excuse to avoid it. The good news is because my pants are a bit looser and people have commented that I look thinner, my motivation to exercise and eat healthy has improved. There is still lots of work to be done and frankly, it’s very day-by-day for me. Nothing is ingrained or habit yet. So when I am distracted, stressed or tired, it remains very easy for me to fall back into bad habits.
Volunteering at My Local Library
I love to read, so I paired my love of reading and need to be more social (working from home is great but somedays I only talk to Max) with volunteering at my local library. Overall, I enjoy helping in the computer resource area and it’s been very interesting. Plus, I also convinced them to order a book I want, so win-win!
Fall Entertainment
I love the start of the TV season, when old favorites return, like Elementary, to new favorites, like This is Us and Speechless. I also find it interesting which shows I used to enjoy but now find a bit tedious, such as Big Bang Theory and The Flash. I’m taking a hiatus from both of them. I abandoned Lucifer halfway through its season last year but gave it another shot this year and I’m enjoying it. Go figure.
Halloween is also one of my favorite times of the year entertainment-wise. I watch Hocus Pocus at least once. And whatever scary movies I can find (and watch without freaking out too badly). This year I caught Psycho (original version), 13 Ghosts, Sleepy Hollow, Insidious and Insidious 3. All this from the girl who got nightmares watching The Wizard of Oz. 😀 Also if you have lots of leftover Halloween candy, you might want to give my Candy Bar Brownies a try. They are delicious!
Election Fatigue
Honestly, isn’t everyone sick and tired of the election? Just a few more days and it will be over. All this election crap has been the biggest drag on my mood. It soured everything and turned me into world class grump. If it’s dragging you down and you need a pick-me-up, head over to A Mindful Migration, where I’ve got the election cure.
Max, the Frog
And oh yes. Max. The Chief Mischief Maker has been up to no good. And he will continue to get into mischief after I forced him into his Halloween costume.
Max is the kind of cat who takes getting retribution very, very seriously. 😀
So how was your October?
