Hi ya, everyone! It’s me, Mighty Max! That’s right, I’m joining forces with Mama today for our annual Thanksgiving message. I always love posting with my Mama because it’s super fun and Mama is super cool, just like me!
[Tanya] Your enthusiasm has me worried.
Don’t be silly, Mama. I am always super duper excited to blog with you. Now what should we meow about today?
[T] Well, I wasn’t planning on meowing. People look at me weird when I do it.
Yeah. I get that. You make no sense when you meow.
[T] Your support bowls me over. 😀 Let’s keep it simple today since I have the sniffles and talk about what we are grateful for this Thanksgiving. Do you want to start?
No. You should start since you are the boss lady. But I’ll help get you started … I am most grateful to have the very best and coolest cat in the world. He is perfect, smart, funny and adorable. What I love best about him is his mischief-making ways.
[T] So you puked up a hairball again.
Yes.
[T] Where?
Why would I tell you? It’s so much fun when you step in it and flap your arms.
[T] Max!
I can’t remember. Honest.
[T] Fine. But I will remember when Christmas rolls around. What I am most grateful for this Thanksgiving is hope and the ability to make a difference. There will always be dark days and despair and hurt and pain, but there will also always be hope and love and strength. And maybe I watched too much Harry Potter on Freeform this weekend but I do believe love trumps hate in the end.
Wow. Mama that’s really deep. You are so smart and clever, just like me.
[T] Ummmm … thanks?
You’re welcome. Well, I’m grateful for lots and lots of things. I’m grateful for my big red fluffy bed. I’m grateful for all my toys. And my treats, belly rubs and full body massages. But most of all — I’m grateful that I was smart enough to adopt Mama!
[T] You adopted me?
Yes.
[T] I’m pretty sure I adopted you.
You are incorrect.
[T] Well, if you adopted me, how come I had to pay the adoption fee?
Because cats rule and humans do our bidding, including paying adoption fees, cleaning litter boxes, feeding us, playing with us and obeying us. Those are the rules!
[T] Seems fair to me.
Are you grateful for anything or anyone else? Like maybe 17 pounds of pep?
[T] Yes, I am grateful for many more things, like my family, friends, flip-flops, the beach, good food and awesome books.
And?
[T] And what?
Mama, don’t tease me!
[T] Okay, I am grateful for this big, ginger kitty that owns me — lock, stock and barrel.
That’s me!
[T] Yes, you.
I am awesome!
[T] Yes, you are awesome.
And handsome!
[T] And handsome!
And super duper cool!
[T] And super duper cool.
The best cat ever! Much, much better than Emeril!
[T] Max!
Just teasing (not really, I am cooler).
[T] Max and I would like to thank the readers of Eat Laugh Purr for spending part of their day with us. We are so grateful for your support and we wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving, full of mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie.
And cat treats.
[T] Errr … and cat treats.
[T] We’re taking the remainder of the week off, but we will be back next week with lots of great Christmas recipes.
And my Christmas list too!! I’ve been especially good this year! If you’re heading out on Black Friday, please pick up some treats and toys for me!
[T] Max!
[Tanya and Max] Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!!!
